Sarah Kremeyer, the reigning Miss Edinburgh, will be with the riders at the start of the 2011 SEStran Two Capitals Cycle Ride.

Ms Kremeyer will be demonstrating an electric bike during the event, which is the biggest all-abilities cycle ride in SE Scotland, to highlight green transportation options that can help reduce the region’s carbon footprint,.

Sarah Kremeyer said;

“I think this charity event supporting Maggie’s and Kingdom Kids is fantastic and, as I work for a charity myself, training Guide Dogs for the blind, I believe we all should do our bit for others.” “ This electric bike makes the 23 miles easy ( or as hard as you want if you want to pedal without help ) I love it as it enables you to go to work or shop without paying the earth for petrol .....and save money as well as helping the planet “.

SEStran Chair Russell Imrie added:

“SEStran is delighted that Sarah is backing the Two Capitals Cycle Ride.   I hope that her support will encourage even more people to give cycling a try as a form of transport for shorter journeys and an excellent way of keeping fit and healthy.

“The Two Capitals Cycle Ride is now well established as one of the biggest all-abilities cycle events in the region and a firm favourite during bike week. We are already on target to exceed last year’s number of entrants, so hopefully we can set a new record in 2011”.

Tumong Edwards, Community Fundraiser for Maggie's Fife added:

"Maggie's is really pleased more people are registering to take part in the cycle to support us. Events like this give people the opportunity to support us by doing something they enjoy or to get fit."

Kingdom FM presenters; Ian Gilmour, Darren Stenhouse, Ali McLaren, Garry Pettie,  Vanessa Motion & Naomi Cornwall have all been training hard for the event.

OverDrive Presenter, Darren Stenhouse, said:

"Everybody thought that Ian Gilmour in Lycra Shorts would bring the glamour to this year’s event, however we're pleased to learn the real glamour will come from Sarah Kremeyer, the reigning Miss Edinburgh. We look forward to seeing everyone at the start line!"
