The SEStran two capitals Cycle Ride, now in its fifth year, looks set to break its own record for participation, this Sunday.

Over 300 participants have already signed up and the organisers are hoping to top 500 on the day, as riders of all abilities and ages set off from Dunfermline Glen to Edinburgh’s Victoria Park

SEStran Chair Russell Imrie said:

“The SEStran Two Capitals Cycle Ride is now well established as one of the biggest all-abilities cycle events in the region and a firm favourite during bike week. We are already on target to exceed last year’s number of entrants, so hopefully we can set a new record in 2011”.

“If you haven’t had time to sign up so far, just show up a bit early on the day and join in. Everyone is welcome”

“SEStran wants to encourage as many people as possible to give cycling a try, for fun, health and as a form of transport for shorter journeys. What better way to start, than on a fun day out on this beautiful route?

Tumong Edwards, Community Fundraiser for Maggie's Fife added:

“Maggie’s is really pleased that there are over 300 registered to take part in the Two Capitals Cycle challenge, amongst the 300 there are many supporting Maggie’s so a big thanks to those taking part for us.  I’m looking forward to going along to the event on Sunday, please do come and say hello.”

Kingdom FM presenters; Ian Gilmour, Darren Stenhouse, Ali McLaren, Garry Pettie,  Vanessa Motion & Naomi Cornwall have all been training hard for the event.
