Today, SEStran’s board approved the publication of a new Car Sharing Guide, designed to encourage local businesses to set up their own car sharing schemes.
The guide offers help and advice on setting up car sharing schemes and highlights the benefits that they can offer to business, ranging from reducing the amount of parking they need, to widening recruitment opportunities, staff retention and reducing congestion around their sites.
SEStran Chair, Cllr Russell Imrie said:
“The TripshareSEStran scheme is attracting increasing numbers of individuals towards car sharing. Now a growing number of employers, ranging from the Scottish Government, to NHS Lothian, are realising that car sharing can offer real benefits or their organisations”.
“The guide is designed to offer businesses considering the introduction of a car sharing scheme a step-by-step introduction to what is involved and how to get started. SEStran can also offer direct advice and support to companies, to ensure that they implement their car sharing schemes in ways that will maximise their success”.
The Car Sharing Guide will be available for download on both the SEStran website at www.sestran.gov.uk and from the Scottish Government at www.chooseanotherway.com
ENDS SEStran - South East of Scotland Transport Partnership - is one of seven new Statutory Regional Transport Partnerships (RTP) created by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005 and is a partnership of eight local councils covering the Borders, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian, Edinburgh, Fife, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire.
