Members get the chance to win a SatNav worth over £150, in celebration of scheme’s second successful year.

To celebrate TripshareSEStran.com’s second birthday, we are offering existing and new members who successfully find a matched journey between 24 October and 24 November 2008 the chance to have their name automatically entered into a prize raffle.  One lucky winner will win a Tom- Tom satellite navigation system worth £150, while four runners-up will each receive a Turtlewax car care kit.

Almost 5000 people across South East Scotland have already discovered that they can make real financial savings on fuel, parking charges and wear and tear on their cars, as well as helping to tackle congestion and reduce pollution by joining Tripshare and sharing their car journeys.

Typically, members can expect to save an average of over £1000 a year through car sharing.

The service is free and easy to use. Members can store their details securely, with only travel details accessible to other participants. Women can specify female-only travel companions and members can select individual preferences; such as smoking or non-smoking.

SEStran Chair, Cllr Russell Imrie said:

“Tripshare continues to go from strength to strength, as people realise that car sharing is a sensible commuting option that offers them real benefits. We are well on target for exceeding 5000 members by the end of 2008. That means thousands fewer cars on the roads, less congestion and a smaller carbon footprint for South East Scotland.

“TripshareSEStran.com is making a growing contribution towards tackling the region’s congestion problems. To mark the scheme’s second birthday, we decided to offer something that would help members ensure that they were taking the most cost- effective route to their destination, with runners up winning a prize that will help them to keep their vehicles in top condition.”
