Straiton Park & Ride |
The construction of a new park and ride site at Straiton offers motorists, especially Midlothian commuters from Penicuik and the surrounding area, the choice to use public transport as an alternative means to access Edinburgh. This will assist to ease traffic levels and reduce congestion levels. Straiton Park and Ride is accessed from the A701, just south of its junction with the A720 City Bypass to Penicuik and includes 600 parking spaces and a terminal building. The site will be served by high frequency buses into the city centre and features a waiting area, CCTV and toilets. Straiton Park and Ride opened 5 October 2008. |

Tay Bridge Park & Ride |
SEStran recognises that the Tay Road Bridge corridor could face a significant change in traffic flow with the removals of northbound tolls on the bridge. The provision of a Park & Ride together with possible enhancement of public transport services could encourage car users to leave their vehicles in the car park and complete the remainder of their journey to Dundee by bus, rail or car sharing. The purpose of this feasibility study is to consider ways to reduce congestion, enhance accessibility, improve safety and increase transport choices resulting in a modal shift away from private car. |
