Freight Projects

A Freight Quality Partnership has been established by SEStran. The partnership will meet twice annually and will provide an effective forum to discuss and promote freight issues in the SEStran area.

The partnership will aim to help the freight industry in SE Scotland function as efficiently as possible and identify solutions to the challenges that it faces. Priorities will include :

• Examining how effective current freight related activities are in SE Scotland
• Assessing the level of investment needed to improve freight movement within the region, and where it is needed most.
• Identifying customer's needs - particularly in the retail sector.
• Reviewing general freight sector issues.
• Assessing future demand for freight facilities in the SEStran region, and preparing strategies to meeti it. 

Communications will form a key part of the partnership's work. The FQP will act as a hub, disseminating information to local authorities, the freight industry and infrastructure managers, to ensure that the industry can operate as efficiently as possible.
