The existing half-barrier level crossing at Kirknewton is currently ranked number three within Network Rails most dangerous level crossings in Scotland. 

Working in partnership with Network Rail and West Lothian Council, SEStran aims to provide an alternative road link, in order to remove the risk and provide better access to Kirknewton.
